I've lived in California since 1997, but originally I was born and raised in East Lansing, Michigan... Home of the Michigan State University Spartans.  I am the youngest of 3 girls.   My parents, Ray and Mary Jahshan immigrated to the United States in 1967, and their courage to do so was a great inspiration for me to move to California and pursue my writing career, knowing it would be a long struggle.  My two, loving and supportive older sisters are, Susan and Sonia, and I have the two most adorable nephews, Tommy Ray and Nicholas, who have inspired me to work on some children books and scripts.  My Uncle Joseph Boladian completes my family circle, with his eternal encouragement and insight.  Growing up, I was exposed to a lot of people from all over the world since I grew up in a college town, and I think as a writer, that certainly is valuable.  Observing people from all cultures, states, religions, is a great way to develop the ability to write for all types of characters.  

When I started High School, although I began writing long before that, I developed an interest in script writing in particular.  A family friend, the late Jim Cash, was really my mentor and I would ask him questions and for advice every chance I had (which was often since my families restaurant was one of his favorites).  At Michigan State, I took Jim's film class where he took every opportunity to
