A lot of people ask me how I began working in show business. I was born and raised in the beach community of Long Beach California , so being a local helped inspire me since I was here in Southern California and so close to the business. I have worked in the entertainment industry since I was 16 years old. Before I found my niche in "audience world" I really paid my dues in Hollywood . I had many great opportunities to learn and grow in this business and at the same time, I made a whole lot of friends.
My very first job was a production assistant on a short film titled “Hot Kisses”. It was a 20 minute short film about a guy who climbs into his girlfriend's second story bed room window to give her a bag of Hershey's Kisses that he had stolen for her. My mother drove me over to the set in Hollywood everyday because I was only 16 years old, and she also was not so sure that Hot Kisses was a movie set I should have been on, it basically was just a very short romantic comedy. Soon after, other short films and commercials would follow.
I had my first internship right out of high school at Metromedia Channel 11, what is now the Fox Station in Los Angeles . I interned on the TV show PM Magazine, the show was hosted by Bob Seagren and Debbie Maffett. I would ride the bus 3 hours both ways to intern for free, three days a week. From that internship, I met Olivia Newton-John's publicist Beebe Kline, she offered me an opportunity where she worked and I began working at the legendary public relations firm, Rogers & Cowan. I was the photographer's assistant and everyone who is anyone was a client there. I had the most fun, I was only 19 years old and we covered all of the big parties, press events, premiers, and special photo sessions for the firm.
